In 2016, supported by the international Play Association (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) London Play welcomed guests from Tokyo Play in a twinning ceremony as ‘Play Cities’. Jointly promoting Article 21 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to rest, leisure and play, is one of the aims of the partnership, through sharing experience, information and ideas.
Witnessing a UK Playday during a visit to London in 2011, the Tokyo Playteam was inspired to launch a similar initiative at home. On Monday 22nd February, Cain Adams from Hartley Primary Academy was chosen as an Ambassador, joining the Pearly Queen and Prince of St Pancras for the Twinning ceremony with the delegates from Tokyo. What a wonderful experience – and doesn’t he look amazing!
