It was the Blog before Christmas!

Dear Parents and Carers,

I can’t believe that this is the final blog for 2016! I also can’t believe that this time last year, I was not part of the Hartley family, how glad I am that I made that move this year. I have had the most wonderful journey with the children, staff and yourselves over the last four terms and could not imagine myself anywhere else.

The last few weeks have whizzed by and they have been full of activities. The PTA Christmas Fair was an amazing event raising more money than last year with everyone having a very enjoyable afternoon. Yet again, our PTA did us proud – they pull out all the stops to make the event run so successfully year on year.  The amount of organising is staggering and the hours of work involved setting up and tidying away are many – thank you.  I would also like to extend my thanks to our parents for supporting the event and providing bottles and sweets for the tombola.

Year 6 enjoyed the Carol Concert at Milestone School, they were a credit to all of us and sang beautifully. Year 6 also completed their Bikeability training despite foggy and wet conditions, well done to all of them for their effort and endurance! The Bikeability team leaders were impressed by the children’s willingness to learn, their politeness and excellent behaviour.

We have also had two weeks of the most outstanding productions. Our children in Apple and Cherry classes astounded me with their confidence and ability to learn their lines. Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 productions provided magical moments for all of us. Thank you to all the children and staff who worked so hard to prepare and perform – and a BIG thank you to parents for sourcing costumes and props!

Our Christmas Lunch revealed some very caring and considerate children (and parents) who had brought extra crackers in for those children who might not have one. Thank you! The atmosphere was wonderful and the children really enjoyed themselves.

At the end of last week, Reverend Fletcher led our Christingle assembly the highlight of which was when the 60 Christingles made by Year 2 were all lit and the lights were switched off. The children had an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas; it was a very special moment.

We end the term with our Christmas discos and pantomime all provided by our PTA to whom we extend a huge thank you.

All that remains for me to say is a thank you for all the support you have given your children this year, have a wonderful festive season and very happy New Year and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Thursday 5th January.
