Since joining the Leigh Academies Trust, Hartley Primary Academy has been on an exciting journey. In March 2016 the school achieved Outstanding across all areas in its Ofsted inspection. The single recommendation from this report was that the Academy:

“Ensure that the highly effective practice currently in the school is shared more widely across Leigh Academies Trust and with other schools locally.”

Since this inspection Hartley staff have worked in partnership with other academies across the trust and schools locally to develop best practice and establish networks for professionals across the north of Kent. The Academy has also been invited to join an Ofsted working party, exploring and sharing best practice related to improving outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. Hartley Primary Academy has been listed by Ofsted in the Education and Skills Annual Report (South East regional information pack) as a school to consult with regarding this particular issue.

Hartley Primary Academy is now delighted to announce that it has been nominated by the National College as a National Support School. This is a wonderful tribute to the staff, pupils and community of the Academy, providing a formal vehicle through which the single post Ofsted aim of sharing best practice more widely can be delivered.

The leadership and staff at Hartley are driven by the visions and values of the Trust and the Academy, including a firm belief in our “strong collaboration and team work so that we are much greater than the sum of our parts”. As a National Support School, Hartley Primary Academy will support at least one other school outside of our own Leigh Academies Trust, working collaboratively to support the journey toward Good and Outstanding.

At Hartley, we believe that we should “be the difference“, which pushes us as individuals and as a team to go that extra bit further and achieve our individual and collaborative goals. As a National Support School we will be able to “be the difference” for more professionals and more children, setting high expectations for all; securing better outcomes for more young people across the county.
