Appointment of a new Principal for Hartley Primary Academy

Dear parents and carers

RE: appointment of a new Principal for Hartley Primary Academy.

I wrote to you a few weeks ago explaining that Miss Galinis will be leaving Hartley Primary at the end of the Spring Term to take up a new role. At that time, I promised to let you know as soon as we had made an appointment to replace her as Principal.

Following a national recruitment search and rigorous selection process, we have appointed Mr Stuart Mitchell as the new Principal for Hartley starting straight after Easter 2024. Mr Mitchell is an experienced senior leader and has been Vice Principal at Dartford Primary Academy for the past four and a half years. It is very gratifying that a senior leader from another Leigh Academies Trust primary has achieved this promotion against external candidates as a result of our continued investment in leadership development.

Mr Mitchell is very much looking forward to getting to know pupils, staff and parents. The advantage of already working for Leigh Academies Trust is that we can begin a careful transition to his new role as soon as we return after the Christmas break. Commenting on his appointment, Mr Mitchell said: “I am excited to join the Hartley Primary community as the new Principal. I am eager to collaborate with the dedicated staff, engage with the vibrant student body, and foster strong relationships with parents. I look forward to our journey ahead”.

Hartley Primary is a remarkable school with exceptionally high standards. I know that Mr Mitchell will be dedicated to building on Miss Galinis’ strong legacy whilst taking the academy forward towards even more exceptional achievements in the future.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Beamish | Chief Executive
