Appointment of a new Principal to Hartley Primary Academy

Dear parents and carers

RE: appointment of a new Principal.

You will have seen the fantastic Ofsted inspection report at Hartley Primary, making it one of only a small number of schools in England which has achieved back-to-back Outstanding grades. I would like to record my appreciation for everyone who has made this possible, especially the hard-working and talented team of staff we have at Hartley who are providing your sons and daughters with an exceptional education every day.

Since the inspection, Miss Galinis has informed me that she has been appointed to a new position outside of this Trust. She has worked at Hartley Primary since 2005 when she joined as a class teacher and has undertaken many different roles in the school since, including her appointment as Principal in 2019. Whilst we are tremendously sad that Miss Galinis will be moving on after Easter 2024, we thoroughly respect her reasons for doing so as she explores new career opportunities.

As Principal and Assistant Principal before that, Miss Galinis has been central to many key developments at Hartley over and above the two Outstanding grades awarded by Ofsted in 2016 and 2023. This includes its accreditation as an International Baccalaureate World School, the incorporation of Roundash Nursery and of course leadership throughout the very challenging Covid Pandemic when every effort was made to support pupils and families to maintain high quality learning despite unprecedented levels of disruption. Taken together, this constitutes a fine track record and one upon which Miss Galinis can look back with pride.

I’m sure you will join me in thanking her for all she has done and wishing her well for the future. Rest assured that Miss Galinis will continue pressing forward at Hartley until her very last day so that the academy goes from strength to strength. There will be absolutely no resting on our laurels. Meanwhile, the Trust will embark upon a national recruitment search to find Miss Galinis’ successor and I will of course update you when we have a successful outcome to that process.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Beamish | Chief Executive
