Art and Design

Our Aims

As an IB school we follow the philosophy of the PYP curriculum and therefore we aim to provide pupils with the opportunity to express their own creativity through a range of art, craft and design experiences. We intend to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils by developing their skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As our pupils progress they should be able to think critically and develop a greater understanding of art and design and will know how these have contributed to the culture of our nation through the study of some of the great artists.

  • To produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences;
  • Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques;
  • Evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art and designs;
  • Know about great artists, craft makers and designers and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
