PTA

We have a very active PTA at Hartley, which raises funds to support the School and organises events for both children and adults.  Over the years the Association has provided the School with a great deal of equipment as well as giving much needed support in numerous other ways.

What is the PTA money used for?

The PTA plays a key role in raising significant funds to provide additional educational resources, playground equipment, ICT hardware, Interactive Whiteboards, annual software subscriptions and so on.  The PTA organise a number of social events throughout the school year for our children and their families including:  summer and Christmas fairs, movie nights and school discos.  All our parents are automatically part of our PTA.

In this academic year, our PTA is focused on raising funds to support our plan to build an outdoor classroom.

The PTA Committee 2021/22:

Joint Chair – Mrs C Rolls /Ms C Barrett
Secretary – Mrs L Fuller
Treasurer – Mr C Rolls

The Hartley Primary Academy (PTA) is a registered charity run by a group of parent and staff volunteers.  Its aim is to raise money to provide extras for the pupils, to enrich their time and experience at the school.  Every parent and carer with a child at the school is invited to be an active member of the PTA, as are all the teachers.

What does the PTA do?

The PTA organises a number of events and activities throughout the school year, ranging from the Christmas and Summer Fairs, to smaller regular events like the Mother’s/Father’s Day gift stalls, school discos and movie nights.

The main aim of the PTA is to raise money, which can then be spent on things to improve the school, and each child’s learning.  The PTA events also provide a vital link between school, community and home life, giving the teachers, children and their families’ opportunities to have fun together.

The PTA committee, which is elected at the AGM in September, meets on a regular basis (usually once per term), with smaller working groups meeting as necessary when we are planning larger events like the Christmas and Summer Fairs.  A member of the senior management team attends each committee meeting.  All parents and teachers are welcome at every meeting.  Attending a meeting does not mean that you are signed up for life!

You will receive regular PTA newsletters and flyers about forthcoming events via email or in your child’s book bag.  They will also be featured on the school website.

What is the PTA money used for?

The PTA raises around £10,000 per year, which is used to provide things that our children would not otherwise have at school.

PTA purchases include a Trim Trail in the lower playground, new benches in the top playground, Christmas Panto activities and subscription to Mathletics, which is a captivating online learning space. Our current fundraising goal is to develop the outdoor learning space and provide Forest School equipment for the whole school.

In previous years, the PTA played a key role in raising sufficient funds to allow purchasing of key ICT equipment including laptops and iPads and interactive whiteboards. In addition, we have financially supported building works including the Sunshine Room (used daily for small group work and music lessons), the school hall and playground equipment.

How can I be part of the PTA?

We are always looking for new members, new ideas and new helpers.  You can offer as much or as little support as you like.

Join the Committee if you would like to be involved in planning PTA events and making decisions about how to spend the money raised.

Join the Volunteer Army if you would like to help at events – you can be placed on our helpers email list and emails will be sent out when help is needed at events.
